ChannelNext Wraps Up 2016 Out West

Our recent ChannelNEXT conferences in Vancouver and Calgary wrapped up our year in events! As expected, there was some great content and opportunities for everyone who attended. We kicked off with a town hall discussion on the challenges facing the MSPs and VARs.  Many are getting it and making big transitional changes to remain successful. We see the channel getting stronger.

The main issues surrounded driving sales and retaining employees but it seems like these are always the basics. Our experts provided some good advice to help them get over these challenges. Some wanted to figure out how the new Microsoft Dynamics 365 will affect their business. Sherweb, one of Microsoft’s distributors was there to explain in great detail and show them the roadmap to successfully navigating the new programs and make the most money.

Here are 10 highlights of what happened…

1.  Tara Landes, President and Founder of BellRock talked about turning great managers into exceptional leaders. When a business is not achieving its full potential, the cause is almost always a gap in managerial and leadership skills.  She explained what makes a good and bad leader as well as many tips for improving!

2.  Rippy Sekhon, Sales Engineer, Sophos introduced Intercept X, their next-generation endpoint security product that stops zero-day malware, unknown exploit variants and stealth attacks, and detects previously unknown Ransomware within seconds. He also presented the latest trends in security threats and their trends.

3.  Randal Wark, Co-Founder VARMasterMind showed everyone how to create an elevator pitch in 6 words that will intrigue and help introduce themselves in any situation.

4.  Keith Young from SolarwindsMSP shared their research conducted with their partners to give deep insights into what are the next steps for service providers and the industry.

5.  Mark Baird, Director of Business Development, StorageCraft showed how to build a disaster recovery infrastructure to maximize profitability and differentiate from the competition.

6.  Matt Scully from Datto talked about some of the secrets to their success and their partner-centric focus. They also introduced a BDR assessment tool to help their partner uncover new sales opportunities.

7.  Sherweb explained the new Microsoft Office 365 licensing programs and what it means for MSPs. Microsoft recently announced important changes to the Online Services Advisor (OSA) program. Effective October 1, 2016, Microsoft is terminating the recurring portion of the Partner Of Records (POR) incentive for Office 365, Azure and CRM Online.

8.  Stephen Jay, President, Top Priority Systems talked about the digital transformation of businesses, its pace of change and implications for the channel. The role of Cloud; Mobility; Data capture vs business intelligence systems; Interaction with other systems - couriers, fulfillment, POS, and CRM. They learned what is creating value and growth at their customers to be able to inject their IT solutions.

9.  Theresa Caragol and Dan Shapero presented the latest research from CompTIA outlining the state of cloud adoption among end users and explores the opportunities for channel providers. They discussed the market, usage patterns and challenges. Everyone received a copy of the report.

10.  Ian Clark, President, Pacific Online introduced a new Data Centre in Western Canada that can help channel partners earn 25% margin on Cloud services with 0$ investment The services include IaaS, VPS’s, PaaS, SaaS, shared hosting and dedicated servers.

VARs, MSPs and ITSPs also got the latest in PSA and managed services from Autotask. Epson showcased their latest hardware solutions including their comprehensive line up of projectors and interactive systems. Viewsonic presented their new line of displays. Fujitsu showcased their comprehensive solution in document management including their latest hardware. EVault/Carbonite and Exagrid also showcased their data backup solutions and partner programs.
