At the recent ChannelNEXT Central at Niagara Falls, even the heavy thunderstorms could not keep the delegates away…we hit 99% attendee capacity. We started the event with an extraordinary panel discussion of 6 business experts giving advice on how they can improve their businesses. VARs and MSPs also got introduced to joining a VAR MasterMind group, that plans to help them grow their business by 30% in the first year see .


The award for Best Keynote presentation went to Datto, who also won Best in Show, just edging out StorageCraft who won Best Gold Meeting Room Presentation. All the vendors did a great job of delivering some very high-value content as they focused more on the business needs of the partners instead of speeds and feeds.

HP introduced their one-pass printer that claims to reduce total cost per page significantly and more durability from their own technology with an output of 6,000 pages per month. Epson also showcased their workgroup printers with managed printer service connectivity and their amazing boardroom interactive presentation solutions.

New this year was the VOIP solutions from Capella and Versature (who also won for Best Workshop). In the past, VOIP did not deliver as the hype promised, but these two companies seem to have the right solution for the channel. Capella presented a VOIP and UC solution that the US Pentagon and White House have been using for years.

Security is getting bigger every year and SOPHOS presented a comprehensive solution across all platforms and end-points, including all mobility devices. Your clients will definitely want this solution! MAXFocus showed VARs how they can get into the MSP business by simply offering monitoring services to start (ask them about this as it can get you making recurring revenues immediately from your clients). They also offered a variety of support services and content from their community to help MSPs evolve into the next generation of managed services.

4Growth, a new member of VAR Office Suite showcased a tool that will help companies validate the probability of sales closing and offer support to help improve the odds. Every big deal company needs this tool! Canon made a first appearance at ChannelNEXT to showcase their line of scanners and e-document management solutions. If you have seen the scanner that takes a picture of a check and deposits in your bank account…it uses their technology.

There were much more amazing content and partnership opportunities that VARs and MSPs got from the event. As a fun highlight, the hospitality suite overlooking the falls with Baileys, Scotch and Cigars was an enjoyable activity. It primed everyone to head back to the Karaoke party for some good and some bad singing. We will be practicing for next time...
