ChannelNext East kicked off on the same day as game two of the hockey playoffs between Montreal and Boston. Being in downtown Montreal, right in front of the Bell Centre (home of the Montreal Canadiens), there was an extra buzz in the air. The hospitality suites had to show the game on TV (Montreal won that game, but we now know that they lost the series). Who remembers the 20 jumbo pizzas arriving later in the evening? That is just one way that ChannelNext adapts to its environment.

This year was the first time ChannelNext was moved to a downtown location. It allowed more VARS to attend the Expo portion of the event on day 2. It was a success as it increased the usual 50 attending VARS by 50%. All ChannelNext events for this year will now be hosted in urban locations.

Managed Services, Cloud Services and IT Security were amongst the hottest topics at the event. Many more VARS are migrating their businesses into these areas and are adapting their business models. The panel discussion featured Cisco, Astaro and Level Platforms to share best-practices with the VARS on growing their business in these areas. Social Media was also another hot topic at the event as VARS are looking to leverage these tools to benefit their business. Security issues around Social Media was also discussed and may be a great way for VARS to open a business opportunity conversation with their clients! The VARCoach expert helped VARS understand how to best grow their sales pipeline and effectively manage their sales process.

From the responses so far, it seems that both the VARS and the vendors found a lot of business opportunities from the event. "The ChannelNEXT conference helped us transform our business from a white box provider into a Managed Services Provider. The conference introduced us to key partners that helped drive new revenues and develop our service offerings. Directly or indirectly partnerships developed at ChannelNEXT helped drive over 50% of our gross profits" Commented Mr. Monty from Bang Industries.

A vendor, Etien D'Hollander of Frontrow Solutions said "I thought the ChannelNEXT meeting was well run and a lot of fun. In 30 plus years of selling I have never been to a meeting that was so focused on networking and lead generation. I got 19 solid leads at the end of 2 days which I am following up!". This vendor showcased an impressive CRM tool that takes seconds for sales reps to report activity and manage their clients.

So much happens at a ChannelNext event over the two days of 17 hours of networking activities. After 10 years, the event is truly well fine-tuned to deliver the best possible experience to all attendees. For next year, ChannelNext is looking to add a French translation service so more French speaking VARS may attend.
